Adrift

Was it all too much

Barely staying afloat in the expanse of endless chatter and noise 

Were you drowning again 

Those thoughts that pull like riptide

The waves like haunted memories steering a course not chartered 

Gulping pain and pretending to swim

The depths too disparaging to wade

A vast sea of unrelenting darkness 

Bubbling to your surface 

Adrift again
